Cargilfield’s Under-11 rugby team hosted their Loretto counterparts in what turned out to be a great battle of strength, speed and skill.

In the opening half, Loretto had the upper hand in the early stages, comfortably breaking through Cargilfield’s defences and scoring three tries in quick succession. Cargilfield took some time to get into the game but gradually warmed up to the contest and began to exert their own pressure with attacks that grew in fluency and impact. The first half ended with Loretto having an advantage of four tries.

By the second half, the home team had hit full stride and the contest was much more even. Cargilfield showed much greater commitment to their defence and in due course were able to narrow the gap in the score line, with the match eventually ending 10-12 in favour of the visitors.

Well done the boys for some competitive rugby and showing great heart to make something of a comeback - a fine team performance!
