U13 Hockey v Merchiston

Won 3-1

Today we were expecting a hard, physical game and we got it. We started off nice and strong with a few good opportunities but just could not quite capitalize on them. This then gave Merchiston some confidence and they came right back. The team was not used to playing with such physicality but it was good for them to understand what we need in for the up coming games. We went in after the first quarter at 0-0 and this frustrated the boys. We lost our cool at the start of the second quarter and gave away some silly fouls with some very questionable tackles. Thankfully we had a good period of some slick passing and Ewan M managed to get a good reverse shot away and we finished the half 1-0 up.

The 3^rd quarter started very much the same as the 2^nd with some hard-reckless tackles and we were lucky not to concede with some fine saves made by Thabo N. Once we started to play simple hockey we gelled a lot better and produce some really good hockey. We went 2-0 up and were looking good but Merchiston just did not let in and got one back making the final quarter very exciting. It was an exciting finish to the game and a great way to finish with Charles B scoring out 3^rd. Well done on a good win.
